Hello everyone. I’m BB from the
Department of Rehabilitation Services with the Deaf and hard-of-hearing unit.
We are here to let the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community know about
this resource. Now what is that exactly? It’s a visor card that you can show to a
police officer if you get pulled over. You can indicate on this card your
communication needs — if you want an interpreter or to write back-and-forth.
On the bottom part of the card, you can let the police officer know what you
might need. My car has run out of gas or I have a flat tire. The police officer can
also use it to indicate what they need from you. Your driver’s license. Your
insurance card — letting you know the reason they pulled you over. Maybe you
were speeding or swerving. If you need one of these cards please contact our
office at 405-543-2646. Thank you and have a great day.
